Pretentious Git!
Hello and welcome to Punk Rock Ist Nicht Tot.

First a quick word about the title. It’s a line taken from the song of the same name, originally recorded by Billy Childish’s Thee Headcoats in 2000 and subsequently pinched by Eddie Argos from the magnificent Art Brut for their song St. Pauli. It is not intended as an indication of the type of music covered here, it’s just a line from a song that I like and something I thought would make a good title!

My name is Mark, my biggest passion is, and always has been, music. I listen to most types (with the exception of R&B, dance music and the empty, soulless rubbish created by programs like the X Factor), but mainly alternative rock and pop in all its forms; twee, garage rock, shoegaze, psych rock, industrial, goth, electropop, indiepop, art rock, baggy, new wave, punk, post-punk – you get the idea! My top five bands are David Bowie, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Lemonheads, The Smiths and The Pogues but don’t ask me my favourite record, it’s an impossible choice.

Since August 2009 I’ve been reviewing gigs and CDs for Artrocker magazine (available in WH Smiths and Borders). It’s something I really enjoy doing and it gives me the chance to discover new music that I may otherwise never of heard. Although I review for Artrocker I figured I have enough spare time to do more so I decided to set up this blog.

Hopefully you’ll find the reviews honest and not too pretentious and the news, free mp3s, videos and ocasional features entertaining and informative. Who knows, you might discover your new favourite band right here….
