Single Review: Tigercats – Banned At The Troxy

tigercatsFormed only a year ago and with two singles, including the fantastic ‘Konny Huck’, and support slots with Dum Dum Girls, Allo Darlin’ and POBPAH already under their belt, Tigercats are creating quite a stir on the indiepop scene. Now they’re back with a new member in the form of Aussie Laura Kovic, and judging by splendid new single ‘Banned at the Troxy’ their ascent has only just started. Vocally and lyrically reminiscent of Hefner (the light would shine right through your dress/and trace a line between your legs), it’s full of spiky melodies, hooks and riffs that probably shouldn’t be together in the same song but it works brilliantly. Even better though is third track ‘Jonny’, a lovely, simple, 2 minute indiepop love song featuring Laura’s breathless vocals – it’s great!
