Single Review: Cinema Red & Blue – Butterbean Crypt EP

cinema red and blue‘Double, double, toll and trouble; Fire burn and cauldron bubble.’ So went the three witches spell in MacBeth. As a special treat this Halloween, Comet Gain and Crystal Stilts have re-joined under the moniker of Cinema Red & Blue to create their own witches brew; a special one off release entitled the ‘Butterbean Crypt’ EP. The EP features four tracks in total, two originals and two covers. An authentic slice of 60s garage pop if you didn’t know which were the covers (Beau Brummel’s Gentle Wandering Ways’ and ‘As Pure As The Freshly Driven Snow’ by Whistler Chaucer Detroit & Greenhill) you wouldn’t be able to tell them apart from the two originals. Lead track ‘Walkin’ To The Cemetry’ with its swirling Hammond organs and screams and yelps is the one that really stands out for me, but all the tracks are good enough to make me want to check the self-titled album these guys released last year and that’s all you need to know!
