Today’s mp3 comes from Brighton based indie pop five piece Shrag. The band, who go out on tour next month, release their much anticipated new album ‘Canines’ in May, but in the meantime you can get a little taster of what’s to come in the shape of ‘Chasing Consummations’.

Tonight is the first a the series of three consecutive ‘(Not) The Track and Field Winter Sprinter’ extravaganzas put on by the lovely folks at Fortuna POP! As I head into St Pancras on a cold desolate train I get an email informing me that due to illness Shrag will not be performing tonight. This leaves me with mixed emotions; it’s the third time I have had a ticket to see Shrag and not been able to see the band, but on the plus side young upstarts Evans The Death, a band I’ve been quite impressed with from the little I’ve heard of them, have agreed to step in. God I hate Sundays. Here I sit feeling the effects of an excessive night of too much booze and too little sleep looking out on a cold grey wet afternoon and the X Factor is on TV. I’m in desperate of need of something to inject a little life into me so it’s a stroke of good fortune that Brighton quintet Shrag are just about to release their first proper album ‘Life! Death! Brighton indie poppers Shrag have announced the release of their second album. Titled Life! Death! Prizes! it will be released on 4 October 2010 by Where It’s At Is Where You Are.
In an act of extreme kindness Shrag have made ‘Tights In August’, the first single to be taken from album, a free download from label’s website (here) during August only.
